How to Stay Sane During a Busy Season

131: How to Stay Sane During a Busy Season

Today I’m talking about navigating through busy seasons.

Life and time sneak up on you, so it is best to be prepared in advance so you can stay sane when things get busy.

In this episode, I share...

  • Specific strategies that help me stay organized

  • Tips for keeping your priorities in order

  • Ways to improve focus and productivity

My advice to handle a busy season is:

  • Get enough sleep

You may not be getting as much sleep as you think you are. When you ensure you are getting enough sleep your whole life will improve.

  • Keep a calendar

Find a calendar that works for you to keep track of your appointments and commitments.

  • Write out a response, even if you do not send it

This helps resolve your feelings without making the situation worse.

  • If something takes less than 5 minutes, do it immediately

Don’t add to your ‘to do’ list when you can knock something out right away.

  • Organize your day the night before

When ending your work day, write out what needs to be done the next day.

  • Put your phone on do not disturb and pause your inbox

When you really need to get work done, create the time and space you need to get in the zone.

  • Limit screen time in your apps

You’d be surprised how much time you spend mindlessly scrolling, so keep that in check by adjusting your settings to limit time spent in apps.

  • Multi-task while on the phone

Get the human connection you need by making phone calls while doing other necessary activities.

  • Exercise

Moving your body just helps you feel better overall, and it doesn’t have to be a hard core workout to count.

  • Wake up earlier

Take some time for yourself and enjoy the most peaceful time of the day before work starts.

  • Be comfortable doing nothing, be present

Set boundaries, you do not need to be available for work all of the time. Enjoy each moment you’re in.

Just remember, keep your focus on the things that matter most during your busy season!
